Also joining the lineup is Tiffany Haddish, Billy Eichner, Jermaine Dupri, Misty Copeland and Mykal-Michelle Harris, and Carey’s twins — Moroccan and Monroe — are set to make appearances.
The soundtrack is stuffed “full of brand new interpretations,” according to a statement, and will drop on the same day as an exclusive to Apple Music, then Dec. 11 on other platforms.
Grande and Hudson will join forces with Carey on the lead single and music video for “Oh Santa!,” which will drop Dec. 4 across all streaming platforms.
In the Magical Christmas Special, expect Carey to save the day in a family-friendly romp combining musical performances, dynamic dancing and animation.
The “All I Want For Christmas Is You” singer is executive producer on the project, written by Caroline Fox.
Apple Music and Carey will ring in the Christmas cheer with several other initiatives, including an Apple TV+ special with Zane Lowe on Dec. 7, in which the pop icon will discuss her personally-curated playlist of favorite holiday songs, talk new music and her recent memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey.
On Christmas Day, Dec. 25, Mariah will also appear on Apple Music Hits, Apple Music’s new radio station, for a six-hour “Holiday Hits” special.
